This was the first piece of electronic equipment that I ever assembled, other than some quickie projects at electronics summer camp.  I didn't realize that the tube sockets were supposed to be installed from the bottom of the chassis.

The bottom photo is one of the original tubes that came with the kit.  You can see the Ameco brand on the glass.  The original 6V6 got gassy and was replaced.
